Research direction

Find the configuration permission check used by scw config info and other commands that read the config file. Read how it uses os.Stat() and where the warning is emitted, then compare that behavior with the Windows ACL details in the issue. Done when a Windows config with restrictive ACLs no longer produces the false warning, while the permission check still works on supported platforms.

Description

Command attempted

scw config info (any command reading the config file)

Expected behavior

No permission warning on Windows, or a check based on Windows ACLs.

Actual behavior

Every command prints (3 times):

WARNING: Scaleway configuration file permissions are too permissive. That is insecure.
You can fix it with the command 'chmod 0600 C:\Users<user>.config\scw\config.yaml'

The file is already restricted to the current user via NTFS ACLs
(icacls /inheritance:r + /grant:r ":F"). The warning persists.

Root cause: the check relies on Unix mode bits. On Windows, Go's os.Stat()
reports 0666 (or 0444 for read-only files) regardless of ACLs, so the check
always fails. The suggested fix (chmod) does not exist on Windows.

Suggested fix: skip the check when runtime.GOOS == "windows", or implement
an ACL-based check (see how GitLab CLI handled the same issue:
https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/cli/-/merge_requests/1569).
