Problem Statement

Pocket detection turns the flashlight off whenever the proximity sensor is covered. It can't tell a pocket from other situations, so it also triggers when I want the light on.

Examples:

  • Phone leaned against a wall
  • Phone upside down or lying on a surface
  • Phone in a stand or flip case
  • Phone standing in a cup as a lantern

Current workaround: disable Pocket detection completely. Then I lose the protection in real pockets.

Proposed Solution

If I turn the flashlight back on within 20 seconds after Pocket detection switched it off, pause Pocket detection until I turn the flashlight off again.

Workflow:

  1. Turn the light on and lean the phone on a wall or upside down.
  2. Pocket detection turns it off.
  3. I turn it on again within 20 seconds.
  4. It stays on (Pocket detection paused for this session).
  5. I turn it off. Pocket detection is active again next time.

No new setting needed. Real pocket cases stay protected.
