The payload names no files. Start by finding where the SDK sets the existing protocol-level span attributes (operation name, task, message and context IDs) and whether any hook already lets callers touch a span. The issue leaves the mechanism open (callback, annotation or API), so the first step is a design discussion on the issue, not code.
