Research direction

Start with the 0,0 check in PositionPacketSerializer (serializers.py:246-249) and the write path in services/position.py:19-47, then look at precision_bits in packets/models.py:68. The issue depends on pskillen/meshflow-api#463 (FX-1), so confirm that lands first. Done means 0,0 positions are rejected at ingest, the cleanup command has a dry-run mode, and DX/RF tests cover low-precision positions.

Description

enhancement meshtastic-2.8

Part of pskillen/meshflow-api#437 (Meshtastic 2.8.x support). Code: TP-3 · Priority: Should · Size: M

Summary

  • 2.7.24-2.7.26 fixed-position nodes sent 0,0; these pass PositionPacketSerializer (serializers.py:246-249) and are written (services/position.py:19-47). Filter them.
  • Cleanup management command with dry-run.
  • 2.8 clamps public positions to 15 bits (~730 m). DX distance and RF propagation should take precision_bits (already stored, packets/models.py:68) into account.

Acceptance criteria

  • 0,0 rejected at ingest
  • Cleanup command with dry-run
  • DX/RF tests with low-precision positions

Depends on: pskillen/meshflow-api#463 (FX-1)
