Research direction

Compare the MemoryFileHandle and SqlFileHandle implementations mentioned in the issue, starting from their class definitions and shared operations. Identify which behavior can be shared while preserving the SQL-specific exceptions; done means duplication is reduced without changing either handle's behavior. No test files are named, so locate the relevant handle tests before making changes.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

Hey - looking at the code, both file handle implementation are mostly the same with small exceptions that I believe can be extracted as implementation methods. Do you think it could be a good idea to implement that, so code duplication can be avoided?
