Research direction

The issue identifies the Chatbot extension's Message component as the existing streaming-related entry point, but names no implementation file or test. Start by inspecting that component and nearby UI patterns, then define how a reusable component should expose progressive reveal outside chat contexts. Done means non-chat interfaces can use a standard token- or word-by-word streaming animation without application-specific animation logic.

Description

Summary

The Chatbot extension's Message component supports rendering streamed content, but the actual progressive text reveal (token-by-token or word-by-word animation) has no standard component — streaming must be implemented entirely at the application level.

Non-chat UIs (dashboards, operations panels, side panels) that display AI reasoning in real time have no PatternFly component for streaming text animation. A standard streaming text component — usable both inside and outside chat contexts — would let product teams show AI reasoning as it generates without building custom animation logic.

Use case

Chain of Thought patterns in non-chat agentic UIs (e.g., a progress panel streaming diagnostic reasoning during a root cause analysis).

Context

This gap was identified during review of the Chain of Thought AI UX standard (Red Hat UXD, AUX-140).
