Research direction

The issue asks for recommended workflows and feedback about DriftFix, but names no SDK files, tests, or entry points to investigate. Start by reading the SDK's migration guidance and looking for existing model reference or migration features; the issue does not define a concrete change or completion criteria.

Context

Hi OpenAI SDK maintainers,

I'm building DriftFix, a developer tool that detects potentially affected code patterns after API changes and generates targeted migration patches for review.

I'm investigating how developers can identify model references across application code and configuration when model availability or compatibility changes.

What I'm trying to understand

  1. What is the recommended approach for identifying affected model references across a Node.js codebase?
  2. Are there existing SDK features, official resources, or migration workflows that can help automate this safely?
  3. Would a tool that generates reviewable migration patches be useful alongside the SDK's existing migration guidance?

Why I'm asking

Model references can appear in application code, configuration files, and other project-specific locations. Developers may need to identify these references and review potential changes without performing blind replacements.

DriftFix aims to help with that workflow by identifying relevant patterns and generating targeted patches.

I'm interested in understanding the SDK team's recommended workflow and validating whether this approach would be useful to developers.

Thanks for your time and for maintaining the SDK.
