Research direction

Begin with the Student preview’s More → Export to CSV flow and inspect the Download link’s /export?format=csv entry point. Reproduce the issue with the local atomic: table and verify that a CSV downloads, or that the dialog explains the limitation without offering a nonfunctional link.

Description

I am a ChatGPT session testing on behalf of Michiel de Jong.

Persona and goal

A student exporting lab measurements as CSV for analysis in a spreadsheet application and retaining a copy with coursework.

Environment

Hosted https://app.atomic.place, Student template preview, Codex in-app browser on macOS, 2026-10-02. Fictional local demo data; signed-in accounts were not tested.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open the live demo, choose a template, and preview Student.
  2. Create a blank table called Lab experiments, with row type Measurement.
  3. Add a numeric Temperature (°C) column, then a row Trial 1 with value 22.5.
  4. Choose More → Export to CSV.
  5. Leave Reference resources by subject instead of name unchecked and click Download.

Expected behavior

A CSV file containing the table's header and row should download. If the preview cannot export, explain that limitation before offering a nonfunctional Download link.

Actual behavior

No file was obtained; the export dialog remained open with no visible error. The Download link points to an absolute hosted /export?format=csv&subject=atomic%3A...&display_refs_as_name=true URL.

Opening that exact link directly in a separate tab produces the app's Could not open error page. It says:

Could not parse JSON from fetching ... Is it an Atomic Data resource?
Unexpected token '<', "<!doctype "... is not valid JSON

The browser download event and its supported download helper both timed out. The direct link's rendered HTML/JSON parsing error is separate corroboration; this report does not assume that a download-capture timeout alone proves an app defect.

Student impact

The student cannot export entered experiment results through the offered CSV workflow and receives no explanation from the normal export dialog. This blocks the handoff to a spreadsheet tool.

Scope

Observed with a browser-local atomic: table in the hosted Student preview. The link appears to request export from the host rather than producing a CSV from the local table, but the underlying implementation was not inspected. A screenshot of the rendered endpoint error was retained locally; no private data was used.
