Research direction
Start at the accounts page and follow the “Resend welcome email” action through its password confirmation and notification handling. Reproduce by cancelling the dialog with the X button; trace which path shows “Welcome mail sent!” after cancellation. Done when cancelling sends no email and shows neither notification.

Description
⚠️ This issue respects the following points: ⚠️
- This is not a troubleshooting question, general support matter, or webserver/proxy problem, but likely a bug (if unsure, ask the Community Help Forum).
- This issue is not already reported on Github OR solved at the Community Help Forum (I've searched!).
- I'm using a maintained major version of Nextcloud Server and tested against the latest patch level. (Supported major versions and current patch levels).
- I agree to follow Nextcloud's Code of Conduct.
- I've tried my best to provide clear reproduction steps that someone unfamiliar with this bug could use to reproduce it.
Bug description
When an administrator cancels the password confirmation dialog while trying to resend a welcome email, Nextcloud displays two contradictory notifications:
"An error occurred during the request. Unable to proceed."
"Welcome mail sent!"
The success notification is misleading because the administrator cancelled the password confirmation.
Steps to reproduce
- Log in to Nextcloud as an admin.
- Open accounts page.
- Find a user account with an email address.
- Open the user's actions menu and click "Resend welcome email".
- When the password confirmation dialog appears, click the X button to cancel without entering your password.
- Observe the notifications.

Expected behavior
Cancelling the password confirmation should cancel the operation. No welcome email should be sent, and neither a success notification nor an error notification for the intentional cancellation should appear.
