Research direction

Start by reading the repository’s Zigbee2MQTT integration and any existing models for devices, rooms, scenes, and sensor history; the issue does not name specific files or tests. Decide how the service stores and reads each kind of data, how rooms handle multiple sensors, how scenes behave with offline devices, and what history retention and resolution should be. Done means these questions have agreed answers.

Question

How are Rooms, Devices and Scenes modelled on top of Zigbee2MQTT?

  • Device: what the service stores vs. what it reads live from Z2M; how a new paired device gets into a Room; renamed/removed devices.
  • Room: what belongs to it; a Room's current temperature/humidity when it has several sensors.
  • Scene: stored in the service or as native Zigbee scenes (per the Z2M research); applying a Scene when a device is offline; "all off".
  • Sensor history: what is recorded, at which resolution, how long it is kept.
