Research direction

Start by reproducing the shown electron:build command and trace the failure through @electron/rebuild's node-gyp build.js entry point. Inspect the node-pty native projects named in the MSBuild errors, including conpty.vcxproj, conpty_console_list.vcxproj, and the winpty projects; done means the Windows release build completes without MSB8040.

Description

Dear all,

I have built an electron app by electron/rebuild (https://github.com/hintdesk/nodecompose). This app uses node-pty. When I start the app with

"start": "npm run build && electron ."

The app can be started but when I try to create a release with

"electron:build": "vite build && electron-builder build --win"

I receive this error

I'm using VS Studio 2026. Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem? I would appreciate any help.

Thank you very much
