Research direction

Start at JsonTransformation.Apply and trace how it reads streams and files before producing the result stream. Research reliable input-encoding detection rather than relying on StreamReader.CurrentEncoding, then verify that the returned stream preserves the input encoding for both supported input forms.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

JsonTransformation.Apply should detect the encoding of the input (either stream or file) and return a stream with the same encoding.

Note that StreamReader.CurrentEncoding does not seem to work properly (see this). I have confirmed this problem through some testing.
