Research direction

Start by reproducing the authentication-tool click in the VS Code in-browser experience and compare it with the desktop app, where a new tab opens for the auth flow. Trace the browser click handling and verify that completing the change makes the auth flow open in a new tab in the browser.

Description

The extension is working as expected in the desktop app. Is there someone who could help me fix this? Some of our developers use the in-browser experience.

Specifically, clicking on the red auth tool shown below does not do anything in browser, before it would trigger a new tab with auth flow to appear.
