Research direction

Reproduce the failure using the linked sourcemaps.io validation URL and the example SourceMapTest.js URL. Trace the validator's handling of the data:application/json source map declaration. Done means the validator can load and validate this embedded source map instead of reporting that it could not load the file.

Description

When I try to validate http://mini.carlberg.org/dev/SourceMapTest.js I get an error:

Unable to fetch data:application/json;charset=utf-8;base64,eyJ2ZX...
SourceMap declaration found, but could not load the file.

Try it here: https://sourcemaps.io/validate?url=http%3A%2F%2Fmini.carlberg.org%2Fdev%2FSourceMapTest.js
