Research direction

Start at the linked option documentation and inspect the option syntax and default-value behavior shown in the issue. Confirm how an empty-table default enables repeated values and returns a table, then document that behavior beside the option reference; done when users can find this behavior and its returned value shape in the documentation.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

Setting the "default" value for an option to an empty table seems to enable that option to be specified multiple times and return a table instead of a string, but this does not seem to be documented:

cli:option("-f, --foo=VALUE", "set foo", {})
