Research direction

Start by reproducing the problem in Pix with portrait-oriented images, comparing files that rotate automatically with those that do not. Done means every portrait image is automatically rotated correctly, matching the expected behavior and the results from Shotwell and Digikam.

Bug description

Automatic image orientation from the camera exif is inconsistently working. Some of the images are auto rotated, others are not. See screenshot. This is not the other case with other tools (shotwell, digikam), which automatically rotate images correctly

Steps to reproduce

Load pix
Open folder with images that have portrait orientation.
Some images are automatically rotated, others are not

Expected behavior

All images should automatically rotate
