Research direction

Start by finding the Button Mappings settings and tracing the existing Smart Zoom and pinch-zoom modifier handling for horizontal scroll. Identify the relevant input-mapping tests or UI behavior checks, then add a horizontal-scroll-to-pinch-zoom mapping without a modifier key. Done means the new setting is available under Button Mappings and produces the intended behavior where the target app supports pinch zoom.

Describe the solution you'd like

Is it possible to have the Pinch Zoom feature setting for horizontal scroll in general (without a modifier key), so technically this would be under Button Mappings. Currently the Pinch Zoom modifier key setting does not work for horizontal scroll, but even so I think it would be a nice option to have that as its permanent function. Even with understanding that it wouldn't work in every app as every app does not support that feature.
Currently in Button Mappings, the only thing that is available is Smart Zoom, but that doesn't really work as well as it unzooms on its own. Thanks!
