Research direction

This is a question about how the decoder's IMDCT is accelerated, not a proposed code change: the payload names no file, test or acceptance criterion, so there is nothing a newcomer can edit to be 'done'. Anyone picking it up should read the IMDCT stage and any precomputed twiddle/rotation tables in the decoder and compare them with a textbook IMDCT, then write the explanation up (a code comment or doc note) rather than change behaviour. Note that the issue has sat 300 days with no comments and no maintainer response, so first confirm the maintainers still want it answered.
