Research direction

Start in src/service/cli.ts around line 339, where the Linux install message is selected. Check how the command can determine whether loginctl show-user $USER -p Linger reports Linger=yes, and look for nearby service CLI tests. Done when the install output gives accurate guidance when linger is already enabled and when it is off.

Summary

After a successful ocx service install on Linux, the CLI always prints For auto-start on boot: loginctl enable-linger $USER, including when loginctl show-user $USER -p Linger already reports Linger=yes. The line comes from src/service/cli.ts (around L339), which checks only process.platform === "linux". It reads as if the service will not start at boot.

Reproduction
  1. On Ubuntu 24.04 with loginctl show-user $USER -p Linger → Linger=yes.
  2. ocx service install.
  3. The output ends with the enable-linger hint.

Expected: print the hint only when linger is off, or say that linger is already enabled.
