Research direction

Start by locating the lwp-request script and reading its allowed_methods definition. The report says adding QUERY with a content value of C lets both lwp-request -m QUERY and a QUERY symlink work; verify the expected behavior and look for nearby tests for method handling. Done means both invocation forms accept QUERY without -f.

Description

trying to use QUERY HTTP method (which is supported in HTTP::Message / HTTP::Request::Common etc) with lwp-request -m or a symlink QUERY to lwp-request returns

lwp-request: QUERY is not an allowed method

adding "QUERY" to the allowed_methods has in lwp-request (with a value of "C" for content) allows it to work
