Research direction

Start at the GitHub Action's input handling and the existing cmake build path; the issue names no files or tests. Trace how install-linux-dependencies and cmake-arguments are processed, then verify that a dependency-only option skips the build while still installing system dependencies.

Description

Would it be possible to add a setting that only installs the system dependencies and skips the cmake build? This would be useful because I am using git submodules to vendor SDL and have my own cmake file that builds SDL as part of my application.

I am using this workaround in the meantime:

- uses: libsdl-org/setup-sdl@main
  with:
    version: 3.2.26
    install-linux-dependencies: true
    cmake-arguments: "-FAIL_ON_PURPOSE_SINCE_WE_ONLY_NEED_DEPENDENCIES"
  continue-on-error: true

Thanks
