Research direction

Start by locating the code path that loads a Lance dataset and renders its columns, then determine where SQL querying or column selection would fit. Done means users can request only the fields they need and avoid rendering the full set of columns; the issue does not name specific files or tests.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

enhancement
Summary

Hi team, I'm wondering after we've loaded lance dataset, can we add SQL support, so we only view fields / columns we care about? For example, I have 20+ columns, rendering of the columns is expensive and visually messy.

Use case

See issue description for details.
