Research direction

Start with the macOS code that reads the frontmost app, which the issue says is already used to detect terminals for paste, then add the matching lookups under platform/<os>/ for Windows and Linux. The AI prompt part depends on #118, so the no-AI rule (skip automatic capitalisation and trailing full stop in terminals and code editors) is the realistic first target. Done means a per-app setting with defaults that can be changed, and that app names never leave the machine.

Description

enhancement priority:P2

The paid apps adapt what they write to where you're writing: a Slack message comes out casual, an email more formal, a code editor gets no prose at all. Same words, different shape.

Needs two pieces:

  1. Knowing the app. macOS can already name the frontmost app (we use it to detect terminals for paste). Windows and Linux need the same, in platform/<os>/.
  2. Using it. Once the local AI layer from #118 exists, the app name picks the prompt. Without AI, a cheaper version still helps: no automatic capitalisation or trailing full stop in a terminal or code editor.

Should be a setting, with sensible defaults per app and a way to change them. Nothing about the app you're in ever leaves your computer.
