調査の方向性

Start by locating the export interface and the code that defines MP4 resolution, frame-rate, and encoding presets. Check how the current 1080p Original option maps to the source recording and whether capture itself is limited to 1080p. Done means users can select 1440p and 4K output, with supported frame rates and clear behavior for native versus upscaled resolution; hardware acceleration is a consideration in the issue.

Is your feature request related to a problem?

Recordly currently provides four MP4 export resolution presets: Low (1152 × 648), Medium (1440 × 810), High (1728 × 972), and Original (1920 × 1080). Although the export interface already supports 60 FPS, there is no option to export videos at 1440p (2K) or 2160p (4K).

This limitation affects users who want to create high-resolution screen recordings for YouTube, software tutorials, coding demonstrations, and professional presentations.

Describe the solution you'd like

Please add the following export resolution options:

1080p: 1920 × 1080

1440p (QHD): 2560 × 1440

4K (UHD): 3840 × 2160

These resolutions should support the existing 24, 30, and 60 FPS options where technically feasible, including native 4K export at 3840 × 2160 and 60 FPS.

Please retain the existing encoding speed and quality presets and consider hardware-accelerated encoding to improve export performance.

The export interface should also clearly distinguish between the original recording resolution and upscaled output. Exporting at 4K should produce genuine 4K detail when the source recording supports it, rather than simply enlarging a 1080p video.

Thank you for developing Recordly. I would really appreciate this addition!

Describe alternatives you've considered

Currently, users can export videos at 1080p and use third-party video editors such as DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere Pro to upscale them to 1440p or 4K.

However, upscaling a 1080p video does not restore the original detail of a native 4K recording, and it adds extra steps to the workflow.

Having native high-resolution export options directly in Recordly would provide a simpler and more efficient solution.

Additional context

The current export interface already supports 24, 30, and 60 FPS, but the highest available resolution preset is Original (1920 × 1080).

Requested export options:

  • 1440p QHD: 2560 × 1440
  • 4K UHD: 3840 × 2160
  • Frame rates: 24, 30, and 60 FPS, where supported
  • Format: MP4
  • Encoding: Retain the existing Fast, Balanced, and Quality presets.

Ideally, 4K export should work with 60 FPS and take advantage of hardware acceleration when available. If recording is also limited to 1080p, support for capturing at higher resolutions would be beneficial.

I've attached a screenshot of the current export interface to illustrate the available options.

Thank you for considering this enhancement!
