The manual pages are less helpful than the GNU counterparts.

For example, the chmod manual page explains virtually nothing at all, apart from some examples.

The only explanation of the syntax is:

Each MODE is of the form [ugoa]*([-+=]([rwxXst]*|[ugo]))+|[-+=]?[0-7]+.

which is, as stated, not helpful as an explanation and on top of that, wrong (it would mean that chmod 0473216572 foo is a valid way to call chmod).

Having good documentation with the code is an important part of UNIX, please do not ditch that while replacing core utilities!
