Start with OptimizationSchema in src/taskgraph/util/schema.py and the task.py transform, then compare the linked Gecko implementation to understand how custom strategies are passed through. Done means registered optimization strategies are accepted by the transform without replacing the built-in schema behavior, with coverage for the new path.

At the moment, taskgraph hardcodes the OptimizationSchema with no way to override it. This means that even though you can register new optimization strategies, the task.py transform will not accept them.
It looks like Gecko added support for this many years ago, but it never made it upstream.
