Hi SoundCloud team,

I run Playa Set Library (https://playasetlibrary.com), a free, non-commercial index of DJ sets recorded at Burning Man 2026. Before I take out Artist Pro and register an app, I want to make sure what I have in mind fits the API Terms of Use.

How the site works today:

  • It hosts no audio. Every set is a link to the artist's own upload on SoundCloud, so every play and follow goes to them.
  • No ads, no paywall, nothing sold. It credits the artist and SoundCloud on every set.
  • It embeds the standard SoundCloud widget for a few playlists on my own account (one per sound, e.g. Deep House, Techno), so the plays happen on SoundCloud's player.
  • Artists can ask for a set to be removed and it comes down.

What I would like to use the API for:

  1. Managing my own playlists with my own account (Authorization Code flow): adding newly published sets to the right playlist and keeping them in the order they were played. I also want to build one playlist per camp in running order.
  2. Using /resolve and track metadata (duration, genre, upload date) in my private admin tools, to check that a submitted link is a real, full-length set before it goes up.
  3. Searching public tracks (e.g. "burning man 2026" with a minimum duration) to find sets I can then ask the artist about before listing them.

Nothing from the API would be streamed on the public site. Listening stays on SoundCloud's own pages and the standard widget.

My questions:

  1. Is managing my own playlists this way (adding and reordering public tracks by other artists) allowed?
  2. The terms say an app may not create "a page, profile, channel or other online presence dedicated to one or more specific artists or set of repertoire". Does that apply to a site like this, given it links out and uses the API only for my own playlists and admin checks?
  3. Can I keep a track's duration and genre on my side after the session, or does the session-caching rule mean I have to fetch them again each time?
  4. Is the use of search described above OK?
  5. Is Artist Pro required for this, or is there a route for a free, non-commercial project?
