説明
When a user joins a SimpleX channel, they only receive messages published after their join time -- historical messages are not synced. This means they also cannot see reactions on those older messages, since the reactions are tied to messages they never received.
It would be useful if the relay could deliver reaction summary data for the channel recent history to new joiners -- separate from the messages themselves. For example, an aggregated reactions payload showing the total count of each reaction emoji across the last N messages.
This would give new subscribers visibility into community engagement on older content without compromising the privacy design of not replaying full message history. The channel preview widget already demonstrates this data is available in the relay JSON snapshot -- it just isnt delivered to new joiner clients.
Proposed approach:
- When a new member joins, deliver a ReactionSummary event containing reaction totals for recent history
- Or include a reactions field in the channel info response that shows aggregated counts
