Overview
There will be a new element in the users table called "apps" of type JSON.
When you upgrade, you will use this SQL command:
alter table users add apps json;
How it works
This new element will be accessed through two already-existing interfaced functions:
database.getUserPrefs (screenname, callback)
database.setUserPrefs (screenname, jsontext, callback)
It's up to applications that build on FeedLand through the platform API to decide how to use the apps structure, though there will be conventions.
The idea is that adding new prefs should be easy, and not require any modifications to FeedLand.
I'm now working on a reference implementation in the Marktwain app. It will be part of the high-level FeedLand API.
