Summary
Quarto currently bundles a Pandoc version that appears affected by a Typst math spacing regression from texmath 0.13.1.x, fixed in texmath 0.13.2.1 (first fixed Pandoc release appears to be 3.10.2).
Repro
echo '$[x]^T \in$' | quarto pandoc -f markdown -t typst
Observed
On affected Pandoc versions, output loses spacing between T and in in Typst math (rendering as if tokens are joined).
Expected
A space should be preserved between T and in in generated Typst math.
Notes
- This reproduces on Pandoc 3.10 (and likely 3.9.0.1–3.10.1).
- Pandoc 3.8.3 bundled in Quarto 1.9.x is OK.
- Pandoc 3.10.2+ appears fixed (includes texmath 0.13.2.1 fix: “Typst writer: Fix spacing after escaped expressions”).
