Start by inspecting the preview rendering path for Markdown bullet lists and task checkboxes; the issue gives no file or test names, so trace the preview entry point and find the existing rendering tests. Compare how GFM handles lists containing checkboxes and decide whether to follow that behavior. Done when preview renders the checkbox and list markers correctly without duplicating them.

At the same time, there's probably subtlety in the decision between "bullet list or not" when check boxes are involved. We should try and match... gfm's behavior? Is that even specified anywhere?
