The issue does not define done, so confirm the target protocol version and the expected behaviour with a maintainer before changing code.

What is the issue?
The library currently speaks Pusher Protocol V5. This is still supported by our infrastructure, and still works perfectly. It would be nice if we updated to the latest protocol however!
