One behavior, though it may seem quite trivial, amounts to a considerable accumulated inconvenience.
To correct the inconvenience, the entire title would be selected upon opening the box for changing the title. Immediately inserting new text would cause the current title to be eliminated.
The case is especially strong considering that the most common case of renaming probably is for replacement of the default title.
Meanwhile, usability for other cases generally would not even be degraded, since changes consisting of only appending, or of only prepending new text, are not common, and neither are changes consisting only of truncation.
