Description
The Enable Hermes command rewrites the iOS Podfile and runs pod install
even when the existing active :hermes_enabled value already matches the
user's selection.
This causes unnecessary dependency installation and increases execution time.
Steps to reproduce
- Use a React Native project with an active
:hermes_enabled => true
setting inios/Podfile. - Run the Enable Hermes command.
- Select iOS and true.
The same issue occurs when the existing value and selection are both false.
Actual behavior
The command rewrites the Podfile and runs pod install, even though the
Hermes setting has not changed.
Expected behavior
If the existing active Hermes value matches the selected value, the command
should return without writing the Podfile or running pod install.
Commented-out settings should not trigger this early return.
