Problem
The terminal rollout projection loses numeric dataset ID 0. On main 05c7fe133175653e48c990546a3509e52dc56512, enqueueing a rollout with input={"data_id": 0}, then transitioning it to running and succeeded, makes GET /api/rollouts/terminal return data_id: "". With an instance_id also present, it returns that fallback instead of the explicit zero ID. A zero instance_id is also lost.
The source is _data_id_of in agentlightning/server/routes/rollouts.py, which uses truthiness to select and stringify the ID. The original input is intact; the bug affects the public terminal projection, not stored input or the trainer's internal UUID grouping.
Reproduction
Using an in-process FastAPI TestClient against create_app:
POST /api/rolloutswith[{"input":{"data_id":0,"instance_id":"fallback"}}].- PATCH the returned rollout's
status.statetorunning, thensucceeded. - GET
/api/rollouts/terminal.
Expected: the item's data_id is "0". Actual: "fallback".
Four endpoint regressions for zero-valued IDs fail on unchanged main; five controls for string IDs, missing/null/empty primary IDs pass. The focused correction preserves zero while retaining missing/null/empty fallback behavior. The server, client and package suites pass (58 tests) after it.
Windows, Python 3.12.7, FastAPI 0.162.0, HTTPX 0.28.1. Dependencies were installed from declared ranges, not the frozen lockfile. No GPU, Kubernetes cluster, model request or external service was used. AI assistance: Codex investigated, reproduced and prepared the fix and tests.
