Value Prop
Stacked pull requests let you break large changes into small, focused, independently reviewable units — so reviews move faster and nothing blocks your team. Each pull request in the stack can be reviewed and validated on its own, and when everything looks good, you can merge the entire stack in one click. Whether you're working solo or collaborating with coding agents, stacked pull requests give you a structured way to ship complex work quickly and incrementally.
Expected Outcome
As more code is generated at higher velocity — including by AI agents — code review has become the primary bottleneck to shipping. Stacked pull requests reach general availability to give every developer on GitHub a reliable, scalable way to keep reviews manageable and momentum high. The goal is to make incremental, high-quality shipping the default experience, not the exception.
