説明

Detecting that we are on Google Cloud Platform involves hitting the Google Cloud metadata API, which is only available to GCP instances.

If this is unreachable, we assume we are not on GCP. However we maybe on GCP but have a restrictive firewall which blocks outgoing connections. This recently happened and caused confusion.

This behavior should be clearly documented. I think the best recommendation is that if you know you are deploying to GCP, specify that when instantiating AttestationGenerator if possible, rather than relying on detection.
