Library does not work in non-Android Java/Kotlin environments

Reproduce the Gradle dependency-resolution failure in a non-Android Java/Kotlin project, then inspect the published com.etebase:client:2.3.2 variants and their AAR packaging. Done means the dependency resolves in the intended non-Android environment and a regression check is added if the repository provides one.

when I add the library to my Kotlin/Java project, and try to run it, the following exception is thrown:
