Problem
Interactive prompting is implemented through several overlapping paths, including shared dialog helpers, deployment adapters, autoconfiguration adapters, and authentication-specific prompt functions.
This creates inconsistent cancellation, non-interactive behavior, error messages, and test setup.
Scope
Consolidate prompt and selection behavior around one shared abstraction. Current public code to review includes:

Acceptance criteria
- Prompt and select operations share cancellation and empty-choice behavior.

- Callers can inject deterministic test implementations.
- Authentication, deployment, autoconfiguration, and initialization use the shared contract.
- Existing user-facing prompt text and accessibility behavior do not regress.
