Question/Feature Request: chord keybindings?

Start by locating the keybinding system and reading how it parses and dispatches keys; the issue does not name files or tests. Determine whether chord, multi-key, and additional navigation-key support is in scope, then agree on expected behavior before implementation. Done would mean the requested binding forms work, with tests covering them.

It seems that the keybinding system only supports "simple" keys: a single key, optionally with a single modifier (C, M). Is that correct? I tried to define chords and multi-key bindings but they didn't seem to work.
In a lot of editors, Paredit keybings in particular tend to be either chords, e.g., C-M-f, or multi-character strings, e.g., C-c C-M-l, C-M-p C-M-r.
In addition, some of those editors use additional keys beyond TAB and RET: up, down, left, right, home, and end for example.
Is expanding the keybindings to cover those cases on the roadmap?
