Environment:
- Graphify: 0.9.90, installed via uv tool
- Host: Pi coding agent
- Subagent extension: nicobailon/pi-subagents
Problem
Graphify's Pi-specific skill hardcodes the Claude Code agent type general-purpose during semantic extraction (Step B2).
However, native pi-subagents does not provide a built-in agent with this name. Its equivalent is delegate, which already has the required read, bash, and write tools.
The resulting error is:
Semantic extraction could not start: pi-subagents rejected requested general-purpose agent as unknown. Graph merge and output refresh did not run; existing graph remains unmodified.
Expected behavior
When installed with graphify install --platform pi, Graphify should use native Pi agent names and dispatch semantics.
The default semantic extraction agent should be delegate, or another available agent with the required read/write capabilities.
Suggested fix:
- Update graphify/skill-pi.md to use native pi-subagents dispatch with delegate.
- Replace hardcoded general-purpose references in Step B2 and recovery instructions in Step B3.
- Preserve the existing requirement to write and validate extraction chunk files.
- Add a Pi-specific regression test to prevent unsupported agent names from being introduced again.
Workaround
- Manually create ~/.pi/agent/agents/general-purpose.md with the appropriate tool permissions.
- This avoids the unknown-agent error but requires unnecessary compatibility configuration.
