What problem does this solve
Seen in: Desktop app settings (the slider labeled "Mamba State Slot",
described as "并行推理时保留的 SSM 状态槽位数").
The current label reads like an expert-parallelism / inference-parallelism
setting. It actually controls how many concurrent sessions can keep their
GDN state snapshot resident for fast resume (~110MB each, sharing one VRAM
budget with the KV pool). I burned a day of capacity tuning before
realizing what this knob was — I assumed it was unrelated to session
management.
Suggested copy:
- Label: "GDN session snapshots" (or "并发会话快照数")
- Tooltip: "Number of concurrent sessions whose GDN state stays resident
for fast resume. Each ≈110MB, shares the VRAM budget with the KV pool.
Sessions beyond this limit fall back to host/disk restore."
Small change, but this is the single most confusing knob in the tuning UI.
Proposed solution
- Label: "GDN session snapshots" (or "并发会话快照数")
- Tooltip: "Number of concurrent sessions whose GDN state stays resident
for fast resume. Each ≈110MB, shares the VRAM budget with the KV pool.
Sessions beyond this limit fall back to host/disk restore."
Related: #661 — another user hit confusion around this knob
(mamba slot capacity), same root cause: the label doesn't say
"snapshots of concurrent sessions".
Alternatives considered
Leaving the label unchanged and only extending the tooltip — rejected:
the label itself ("Mamba State Slot" + parallelism-sounding description)
is the primary source of confusion.
