The "Local Build Commands" section of the wiki page Developer Build and Configuration still builds with:

mkdir -p build && cd build
cmake .. -DUSE_THREAD_SANITIZER=OFF -DUSE_ADDRESS_SANITIZER=OFF
make -j4

The README (BUILD) builds with Ninja and passes LLVM_DIR, Clang_DIR and CLANG_EXECUTABLE for LLVM/Clang 20, with commands for Ubuntu 24.04 and macOS. Without those paths, CMake can pick another LLVM, or none. A newcomer who starts from the wiki gets a different build from the one CI runs.

To do

  • Replace the section with a link to the README's BUILD section, so that the build commands live in one place.
  • Keep the options table. Drop its USE_EXTERNAL_CLI11 row once that option is removed.
