The issue lists three unresolved placements for a progress indicator (floating badge or sidebar, per-section, and site-wide in the top nav) and leaves the choice open, so a maintainer decision is needed first. No files, tests or entry points are named in the payload. Done would mean an agreed placement, a count of completed checklist items shown in that place, and an answer on whether to show X of Y or only X completed.

Research shows that helping people see and understand their progress increases a sense of motivation.

Some possibilities about how we can implement this:

  • "2 of 10 items complete" — could be a floating badge/bar/island. Could be in the sidebar. Could be a progress bar or just text. Bar is probably better.
  • Could make it per section so it feels more attainable. But would need to figure out what to do if they
  • Could track it site-wide in the top nav bar. Maybe just "X" completed isntead of saying "X of Y" since almost no one is going to do all of them.
