Direzione di ricerca

The payload does not name the mount code, so first find where USB partitions are enumerated and mounted to /U and /V on Systemcore. The EFI system partition can be recognized by GUID c12a7328-f81f-11d2-ba4b-00a0c93ec93b, and the issue offers two fixes: skip that partition, or mount partitions in a fixed order so the larger data partition is always /U. Check with a maintainer which fix they want. Done means a GPT drive with an extra ESP mounts consistently across reboots.

Descrizione

If a USB drive is accidentally formatted with a GUID partition map instead of MBR, it sometimes contains an extra EFI system partition (encountered using Disk Utility on macOS). This partition is ignored on macOS and Windows, but on Systemcore the two partitions (ESP and the actual data) are mounted as /U and /V in a random order on each boot. This seems like it could be a common tripping point depending on how teams format their drives, even if MBR is documented as preferred.

I think the simplest solution would be to just skip mounting the ESP similar to macOS/Windows (based on my research, it always has the GUID c12a7328-f81f-11d2-ba4b-00a0c93ec93b so should be easy to identify). At a minimum, it would be best for the partitions to mount in a consistent order so that the (much larger) primary data partition ends always up as /U.
