Descrizione

Problem

The UserPromptSubmit hook in on-prompt-submit.sh extracts the user's prompt text and sends it to Warp via OSC 777. Warp then displays this as the tab title.

Claude Code has an env var CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_TERMINAL_TITLE=1 to disable terminal title updates, but the Warp plugin ignores it — it sends the prompt text regardless. Users who have explicitly opted out of title updates (e.g. because they set their own tab title via kitty @ set-tab-title or shell hooks) still get their title overwritten by the plugin.

Expected behavior

When CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_TERMINAL_TITLE=1 is set, the plugin should either:

  • Skip sending the query field in the prompt_submit event, or
  • Skip the UserPromptSubmit notification entirely, or
  • Let Warp know the user doesn't want title updates (so Warp can decide)

Current behavior

on-prompt-submit.sh unconditionally reads the prompt, truncates to 200 chars, and sends it via warp-notify.sh. Warp uses this to set the tab title. There's no way to disable this without disabling the entire plugin.

Context

The relevant code path:

  • hooks/hooks.json registers a UserPromptSubmit hook
  • scripts/on-prompt-submit.sh extracts $QUERY from stdin JSON
  • scripts/build-payload.sh wraps it in a structured payload
  • scripts/warp-notify.sh emits OSC 777;notify;warp://cli-agent;<payload>

Why this matters

This issue interacts with a broader Warp limitation: Warp only updates its tab CWD/branch display during the prompt rendering cycle (see warpdotdev/Warp#9125). For workflows that switch git worktrees and immediately launch Claude Code, the tab never updates because the prompt never redraws. Users who work around this by setting their own tab title (via shell functions or set_tab_title) have their title overwritten by the plugin's UserPromptSubmit hook — even when CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_TERMINAL_TITLE=1 is set.
