Direzione di ricerca

Start by finding where the e2e tests are defined and how the install check, rejection tests and Cloud lifecycle tests are separated. Then look at the existing GitHub Actions setup. Creating the Temporal Cloud test account and the secret needs maintainer access, so confirm that with the maintainers before writing workflows. Done means a pull-request workflow runs the non-Cloud tests, a workflow on pushes to main and on manual dispatch runs the Cloud lifecycle tests, and cleanup runs in an always-executed step.

Descrizione

Goal

The gdt e2e tests run automatically in GitHub Actions, so regressions are caught without anyone running them by hand.

Tasks

  • Set up a Temporal Cloud test account for CI, with an owner and cost limit, and a service account API key stored as a GitHub Actions secret
  • Add a workflow that runs the tests not needing Cloud (install check, rejection tests) on every pull request
  • Add a workflow that runs the Cloud lifecycle tests on merges to main and on demand
  • Run the cleanup after every Cloud run, including failed ones

Definition of done

  • Every pull request runs the tests that don't need Cloud.
  • Merges to main run the Cloud lifecycle tests against the test account.
  • No Cloud resources are left behind after a run, pass or fail.
