Direzione di ricerca

Start by locating the TrackShopify component and its dispatch() implementation, then inspect the existing tests and diagnostics for unavailable providers and missing events. Add coverage for allowed, denied, and missing customer privacy consent, including a consent change between dispatches. Done means events publish only when consent is allowed and the existing diagnostics remain intact.

Descrizione

enhancement

Goal

Make consent-safe Shopify analytics the default behavior of TrackShopify so each storefront does not implement its own privacy gate.

Current limitation

TrackShopify.dispatch() calls window.Shopify.analytics.publish() whenever it is available. Callers must separately check Shopify customer privacy consent before every event.

That duplicates policy in each project and makes declarative HTML insufficient for consent-aware tracking.

Proposed behavior

Before every publish, call:

window.Shopify?.customerPrivacy?.analyticsProcessingAllowed?.()

Publish only when it returns true.

Requirements:

  • evaluate consent for each dispatch, not only at mount;
  • do not queue events while consent is unavailable or denied;
  • do not publish when the customer privacy API is absent;
  • keep the existing unavailable-provider and missing-event diagnostics;
  • document the safe default and how it relates to Shopify custom events.

If an explicit opt-out is considered necessary for non-storefront environments, it must be an intentional option. The default must remain consent-safe.

Acceptance criteria

  • Allowed analytics consent publishes the event.
  • Denied analytics consent does not publish.
  • A missing customer privacy API does not publish.
  • A consent change affects the next event without remounting.
  • No customer identifiers are added by the component.
