Summary

The Slack client has "Remove from channel" for a thread reply that was also sent to the channel (subtype: thread_broadcast). The public Web API has no equivalent, so an app cannot reverse a broadcast it made without deleting the message.

Steps to reproduce
  1. chat.postMessage with thread_ts and reply_broadcast: true -> the reply has subtype: thread_broadcast
  2. chat.update on that ts with text and reply_broadcast: false -> ok: true
  3. conversations.history still shows the message as thread_broadcast in the channel

chat.update without text returns no_text. Methods like chat.unbroadcast return unknown_method.

Expected

chat.update with reply_broadcast: false (or a dedicated method) removes the message from the channel and keeps it in the thread, the same as the client's "Remove from channel".

Current workaround

Repost the text and blocks into the thread, then chat.delete the broadcast. This changes the ts, drops files, reactions and replies-to links, and shows a deleted-message trace for a moment.

Packages

@slack/web-api (Web API behaviour, not an SDK bug as far as I can tell). Happy to move this wherever Web API feature requests belong.
