Summary

Login fails silently for users whose username contains characters outside Latin-1 (for example, Chinese or Arabic). The request is never sent, and the login page throws a TypeError instead of showing an error.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a Pulp user whose username contains non-Latin-1 characters, for example 비밀번호.
  2. Open /ui/login/.
  3. Enter the username and password, then click Log in.
  4. Open the browser console.

Expected behaviour

Login succeeds, or the page shows a clear error message.

Actual behaviour

No groups/ request is sent. The console shows TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'status'). The user stays on the login page with no message.

Axios seems to build the the Basic Auth header with btoa(username + ':' + encodedPassword). Non latin characters are above U+00FF, so btoa throws InvalidCharacterError before the request is sent.

Environment

  • pulp server version: pulpcore 3.112.0
  • axios version: 1.18.0

Additional context

  • Node check: btoa('비밀번호:pass') and btoa('admin:비밀번호') both throw InvalidCharacterError.
